Director of Learning and Evaluation, Frederick D. Patterson Research Institute, United Negro College Fund

Owens was recently named Director of Learning and Evaluation of the Frederick D. Patterson Research Institute at the United Negro College Fund. Prior to this appointment, Owens was the Senior Manager of Learning and Evaluation for the UNCF Career Pathways Initiative. In that role, Owens was responsible for developing and executing a broad range of program learning and development efforts, including advancing the program’s research and monitoring, evaluation and learning institutions’ work to inform strategy and practice. Prior to joining UNCF, Owens was a Higher Education Fellow with the Southern Education Foundation and has taught research, measurement, and statistics in the College of Education at Georgia State University. Owens earned her bachelor’s degree in Public Relations from Florida A&M University, a master’s degree in Educational Leadership, Politics, and Advocacy from New York University, and a Ph.D. in Educational Policy from Georgia State University.
